09/16/24: I read a lot of history books / memoirs and keep extensive research notes on them (if I haven't thrown the book away in disgust); I also research past sports events and handicap future sports events; and there's the "what the hell is today's date?!" routine ("Scheduler's disease," which actually exists as I found out in 1981-84; one is so wrapped up in events on future dates that today's date becomes a mystery).
Then I witness people (with complete contempt) who are totally cell-phone / computer junked out who assume that their toys (among other things) will keep chronological track of everything, which isn't always the case. So I exercise the memory muscle by dating these posts.

The first attempt on Trump was perpetrated by a troubled young man, who by his google searches, indicates he was looking to kill someone famous (not just Trump). He had in fact googled Trump and Bidens whereabouts, as well as members of the Royal family and government figures and school shootings. He was, in other words, not a left wing political assassin and more akin to a school shooter
What little we know of Routh, the recent shooter, is that he had in fact voted for Trump in 2016, later regretting, and seemed to have very extreme and erratic views on various topics, including Ukraine. He supported Tulsi Gabbard, but also suggested Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy should team up against Trump in some tweets.
Neither instances are some simple direct link to 'legacy medias' inflammatory rhetoric, or whatever simple and politically convenient point you're trying to paint this as. Trump himself is inflammatory in the extreme. How does that fit into your world view?

When I look into war stories it's hard to find facts because most of it is propaganda. When I look into war stories it's hard to find facts because most of it is propaganda. I'm not saying they didn't strap bombs to children and use them as weapons, just saying most war related scenarios I don't too much believe. I do know that people will do things out of desperation and fear without thinking about right or wrong when they do it. Despite all of that, people today are still being killed and maimed by mines left behind by the U.S. that never cleared them out after the war was over.
